AI Essentials

The Generative AI Essentials is a self-paced, four-module course for professionals in the tech, marketing, design, and learning fields, as well as anyone who can benefit from using artificial intelligence (AI) tools in their work. This professional development course introduces the history, laws, and ethics surrounding AI-generated media. It presents various AI tools and provides relevant tips and best practices.

Learners will receive an online badge upon completion of this course from USU Extension. This course has a duration of about 2 hours and includes the following modules:

• Module 1: AI in Context
• Module 2: Using Generative AI Tools
• Module 3: Prompt Craft
• Module 4: Workplace Impacts

The course objectives are to:

1. Explain the history and evolution of generative AI tools and how they work.
2. Recognize best practices for AI tools.
3. Demonstrate using AI tools for text, graphics, and audio (ChatGPT, Midjourney, Elevenlabs, etc).
4. Demonstrate effective prompt engineering for generative AI.
5. Explain the ethical, legal, and copyright considerations surrounding AI tools.
6. Explore the future possibilities of AI.
7. Analyze the impacts AI might have in the workplace.
