A 20-hour self-paced introduction to USU Extension’s integrated mental health and substance use disorder peer support hybrid training. The training prepares individuals grounded in their recovery, to learn tools and practices to work in the mental health and addictions field. The curriculum addresses principles of recovery, identifying strengths for healing, motivational interviewing methods, ethics and boundaries, trauma support, cultural considerations, crisis intervention, and principles for working with groups and individuals. This course can be combined with 20 hours of face-to-face training to earn a State-Certified CPSS designation.
Please note that this course does not earn participants State Certification. Enrollment with the State itself and completion of State Requirements will also be required.
